Time Lord

When I was growing up I was in love with Davy Jones from the Monkees, sad but true. And lovely all at once now I think about it. No, really it is! When he sang Daydream Believer, every girl this side of the Black Stump (australianism for the back of beyond) was in love with him too probably.

Reverie aside, music has been a balm for my jangled nerves all my life. It has a way of slipping inside, finding the knots and providing the right kind of massage for my soul to get rid of the kinks. I’ve had a love affair with it all my life.

I bet like me you can remember songs that remind you of the best and worse times of your life, where you were and how you were. It’s enough for me sometimes to simply to hear the first beat and my memory recall of the words is instantaneous.

Again, sad but true! I love that life has broad enough shoulders and can handle those who were in love with Davy Jones, those that weren’t and those who simply don’t know what I’m talking about. Makes for an interesting party mix wouldn’t you say?

I love that music can put us in a time warp, I love tardis travel. I love the idea that you could enter through the blue doors of a rather ho-hum looking Police Telephone Box and become a Time Lord.

I love that when you get inside the Tardis that your perceptions are startled into a realisation that things are definitely larger on the inside than what they look like from the outside. I think you’ll agree with me, music is definitely like that. Enjoy the ride and take in the views, even from the pillion seat, they can be stunning!
