ABOUT Chris Orwig

” Chris is a teacher at the world renown Brooks Institute of Photography. From his base in Santa Barbara, California, Chris thrives on surfing and exploring the great outdoors with his wife and children.

For Chris the adventure is now, and the journey has already begun discover: to look, listen, learn and live. His mother, an artist, taught him that it’s important to tinker, to experiment, to play. His father, built the Northern California home he grew up in, taught him that space is important.

He created his blog, The Flipside as a space and place for him to tinker and to document/share those tinkerings. The term flipside is commonly used in the phrase, ‘see you on the flipside’ or ‘that’s true, but on the flipside’ yet originally, the term flipside stood for the B-side of a 45 rpm record.

You had to flip a record over to hear the flipside. The B-side track was always lesser known and not quite so mainstream. In reflecting on this, he came to realise that as he’d grown older, it is those tracks that he’s come to enjoy even more and in his blog hopes you enjoy some of his and that they provide you with a bit of off-beat, intriguing and enlivening inspiration.”
