“Stories are powerful, great stories can last forever. Stories are also illusive, capricious and need to be handled with care.” Greg Power has an ongoing fascination with building bridges between a message and an audience with the hope of influencing attitudes and actions. He believes that the fine line between speaking and being heard, is story-telling.

ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

ABOUT Greg Power

“Greg is the President and General Manager of the Canadian operations of world leading Public Relations Agency, Weber Shandwick. In addition to his management duties, he specialises in developing master narratives, media strategy and Senior Executive advice and counsel.

He believes that “all of us as communicators face the challenge to connect his story with your story to make it our story. And when we look at why stories are so powerful we just need to look at where we’ve come from as a society. It’s the way we’ve connected the dots as societies and cultures from the beginning of time.

From cave drawings to oral histories, myths and legends, religions used them to impose moral authority. Today we see stories in the form of News stories, Brand stories, Pop Culture. He believes the three most important attributes of story-telling are: it’s irresistible, it’s believable and it’s unforgettable.”
