ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

ABOUT Douglas Crabb

“Douglas Crabb is a H.O.P.E. (Helping Ourselves Pursue Excellence) Assistant Facilitator, father and Child advocate. He has had many years experience of the effects of incarceration and the impact of the H.O.P.E. programme.

The focus of the programme is on young men and their issues during incarceration. It involves peer mentoring to give them a communal self-awareness and on another level a deeper awareness of their human connectedness, behaviours, how their choices and decisions affect their families, friends and communities.

Participants acknowledge the impact of their actions on others and take personal responsibility for their actions, thoughts and behaviours. They learn life skills such as listening, healthy communication, thinking styles, leadership, problem solving, conflict management and job search skills.”
