Mark Strom unveils for us the power of a grounded question. The power to breathe new life into ideas and conversations! His learning is grounded in his own story: growing up in Australia, a first career as a truck driver and labourer, over two decades advising senior leaders on strategy, innovation and engagement, and first-hand experience of leading the turnaround of a public institution as its CEO.

ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

ABOUT Mark Strom

mark_strom “Mark Strom loves life-giving ideas. He has a rare gift for sparking and animating new conversations. He has been doing this for over twenty-five years with parents, communities, businesses and government leaders.

A story-teller with a PhD in the history of ideas, Mark’s ability to breathe new life into ideas and conversations is grounded in his own story. After a childhood marked by chronic illness and little formal education, he moved on to a first career as a truck driver and labourer.

After returning to academic studies for many years, a conversation with a friend launched career #2: two decades advising senior leaders in mining, infrastructure, science, finance, government, education et al on strategy, innovation and engagement.

A successful business leader himself, Mark has his own first-hand CEO experience. As CEO of Laidlaw College in New Zealand, Mark led the thriving turnaround of every aspect of governance, stakeholder engagement, branding, culture and financial performance.

Mark was also CEO of Second Road, a highly regarded boutique firm bringing design thinking to strategy, innovation and engagement.”
