Matt Chan has been telling stories in television for nearly 40 years. He established himself as a leader in non-fiction television. Matt is the creator of the hit series ‘Hoarders’

ABOUT Matt Chan

matt chan “Matt Chan began his career in 1975 where he worked in Public Television in Portland, Oregon until 1978. He worked as a Producer/Director and moved to the position of Director of daytime programming.

In the Autumn of the same year, he moved to Seattle, Washington as a Producer/Director with KING-TV, and then on to San Francisco a year later to work for Group W’s ‘Evening Magazine’ at KPIX-TV. He was an editor, field producer, and line producer on the show.

Seven years later, Matt accepted the position of Executive Producer at KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California but a year later he returned to Group W Productions in San Francisco to head up national production for the syndicated program ‘PM/Evening Magazine’.

In 1989, Matt accepted the position of Creative Services Director with KXTV in Sacramento, CA then became the Director of Programming and Production in 1991. While at KXTV, Chan and his team produced four nationally syndicated series.

Matt later went on to become the President and General Manager of Belo Productions, an operating company for the A.H. Belo Corporation. Three years later he purchased his division from Belo and started ‘Screaming Flea Productions’. In thirteen years, Screaming Flea tripled in size and created and produced programming for over sixteen networks worldwide. This year Matt has decided to focus more of his time on development and spending time with his wife and grandchildren.”
